FAQ

The questions families actually ask.

Straight answers about how Bequest keeps your vault private and how your family gets in.

Getting in

You give trusted people a recovery kit — 12 words and a QR code, printed. When they need to, they combine the required kits (for example, any 2 of 3) on their own iPhone and the vault opens read-only. No login, no account.
You restore on a new iPhone with your own 12-word recovery phrase and your encrypted backup. Nothing was ever on a server to lose.

Privacy & security

No. Everything is encrypted on your device before it's stored, and the key never leaves your iPhone's Secure Enclave. We have no server that could see it.
None. No analytics, no crash reporting, no ad identifiers. You can confirm it yourself in airplane mode.

The handoff

Nothing changes for your family. The handoff depends only on the kits in their hands and the encrypted backup — not on Bequest existing. There's no account to expire.
Only if you choose a one-person trust model. With a quorum like 2 of 3, no single keyholder can open it — two must agree.

Pricing

Never. The one-time Legacy Unlock keeps your vault openable and inheritable forever. Bequest Plus is optional convenience and never gates access, decryption, or handoff.
Up to 10 entries with full encryption, Face ID, your recovery phrase, and one encrypted backup. No ads, ever.

The basics

No. Bequest is not a legal will and doesn't replace one. It's the private, practical key to everything your loved ones would otherwise have to untangle alone.
Yes, Bequest is iOS-only today, built on Apple's on-device security. iPhone and iPad.
